hairscapades

Describe yourself in 100 words or less.
I am a 36, soon to be 37, embracing each year as they come, single mother of a 16-yr old beautiful daughter. Those who know me would say I am the life of the party … Put me in a room with new people and, by time the party is over, I will have everyone’s name and phone number in my Blackberry!!!! I am really bad at starting projects and not following through. One of my main goals for 2012 is to finish at least one project, so I chose to go natural!!! Let’s see this to the end!!!

What prompted your decision to go natural?
What prompted me to go natural is that my hair would always break. Then I would cut it all off and have a short hair cut and then it would grow back nice and healthy and start…

1 MONTH COMPLETED (Pic to Follow Shortly)

IT’S OFFICIAL!!!! 1 Month Completed with the “BC”!!!

So today July 12th makes it one complete month with the “BC”.  I have to admit it was not as bad as I thought it would be!!!  I got through thanks to WNG’s (wash n go’s)!! So lovin the natural language…it’s like we have secret lingo…
This last week has been my best week ever.  I am getting the hang of what products work well for my natural curls…although I still have not figured out my curl pattern..I am in great need of a Curl Whisperer….
I truly have seen progress in my hair within this month…I have not shed one strand of hair since the “BC”!! I am so estatic because while I was transtioning hair was breaking and left and right…When I looked down at the bathroom floor everyday there was enough hair there to make a wig for a Barbie Doll!!!! #Whatisgoingon!
I still have not gotten my product regimen downpacked yet, but thank goodness for Hairscapades, CurlyNikki, and other bloggers that I follow.  Trullllyyyy havvvveeee gotten me through.
This weekend I want to try out the DIY(Do-It-Yourself) DC (Deep Condition).  Before I do that I will do a
Pre-Conditioning Natural DIY Clarifying Treatment for My Hair – which is the Apple Cider Vinegar rinse to Clarify my scalp.  I really like the As I Am Clarify Shampoo but, funds are a lil tight this week so no splurging this week will do homemade remedies. Thanks to my favorite sites with all their tips! : ) #TeamSmiling….
I am now able to style my TWA (Teeny Weeny Afro) my hair has grown 2 inches!!!!! YAYYYYYY!!!! YIPPPEEEE!!!!!!  This is an exciting journey for me.  Not only is my hair healthy and rejuvinated.  I am feeling the same way! #FREE
I love the way my hair feels when it is moisturized I find myself playing in a lot! I get a lot of compliments but, I also get the occasional why did  you cut all your hair off!!! Ohhhh Myyy Goddd!!!!
That right there makes me put my head up even higher, because those will be the same people who will be like Ohhh Myyy Godddd your hair looks good in a couple of months…. So kick rocks!!!!

To all my ladies Stay Nappy God Made us that way and who are we to try change what we have… Remember God is not an Author of Confusion!!!! 1 Corinthians 14:33!!!!

Stay Blessed and Naturally Beautiful in your “ROOTS”!!!!

2 Weeks & Still Goin’ Natrual

Hey All

So I am celebrating my 2nd week of the “BC”!!!! Woohooo!!!!!

I must say thank you to http://www.hairscapades.com and http://www.curlynikki.com.  The lovely ladies that post their stories and tips have really gotten me through these past two weeks.

I am more confident, curly, shiny and beautifully natural!!!!

As the days keep going by I am learning what works for me on a daily basis…..Definitely loving “As I Am Coconut Co-Wash” I use it every 2 days.  I am still using the Carol’s Daughter Leave-In Conditioner..I use this every day and every night before I put the satin bonnet on.  I also oil my scalp with Doo Grow oil almost finished with it can’t wait to try some shea butter and sweet almond oil mixture I made..on my scalp.  I have thin hair in my crown so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  I have started to do a mixture of Miss Jessie’s curly pudding and eco style olive oil gel.  I must say I love the results. Last but not least I started to use As I Am smoothing gel on my edges just to give my hair some kind of definition and style so it just doesn’t look like an unshaped TWA and I am so loving it.

So the weekend is upon us and I am going to the lake.  I have to figure out what I can put in my hair so that when it gets wet product is not dripping down my face and neck…..#blankstare…..trial and error!!!

Have a great weekend my Bold Beautiful and Natural Divas!!!!! Stay tuned for after lake pictures and the golden glow!!!!

1st Weekend with the “BIG CHOP”

So as you all know I did the BC last Thursday, 6.14.12. How exhilirating, liberated, nerve wrecking, anxious thing I have ever done…..but I couldn’t undo what was done…SO I RAN WITH IT!!!!

So here comes the weekend. I usually hang out with my best friend on Sundays @ the park for SoftBall Sunday’s with my Dominicano’s. So this was going to be the test to see if my swag was there to pull this “BC” off!

So I did my makeup threw on the earrings and held my head high!!!  I rolled up to the park with my music pumping and hopped out of the car and yes my swag was still on an poppin!!!!  Not for nothing I got more positive feedback with the “BC” everyone said they see my face features more now.  So I smiled even harder!!!!

So it’s almost a week.  I am feeling more and more confident with the “BC” as the days go by it will be a week on Thursday and my hair is already growing back.  Pretty soon I will be able to do a mini twist out…I cannot wait!!!

Well stay tuned for more updates on how the BC is going!  I will soon post how I maintain and keep my “BC” nice and moist!!!

BTW the pic I posted is me and one of the managers of San Pedro Softball Team @ Bambu (Newark, NJ) after Softball Sunday!Image
